  • Body Contours Photo Shoot PART I

The shoot was on Wednesday, the 1st of September, from 9am till 6pm. The studio was somewhere near Lavender. I had a quick breakfast before I made my way down and had a cup of coffee before makeup. The theme is pretty much concentrated on woman's natural beauty and body curve. There were many outfits, including swimwear and lingerie, that I had to change into on that day and I really liked most of them.

Let's take a look at some of the behind the scene photos.

The setting up of background and lighting.

Meanwhile, Kenneth was getting the makeup ready.
Trust me, he is really really good. Besides his professional working experience, he also has a great personality.

Same goes for the stylist and her great assistance. She was from Lasalle which was where I used to study.

Before the photo shoot started, Lionel was sharing with me a few examples of the looks he wanted.

And here we go, captured by Lionel.

This is one of the very first few shots.

It looks easy just to pose and smile right? That's what many people think. What if you have to stand in many different poses for 9 hours straight? It was quite tiring for me but I really did have my fun. I am gratefully thankful to everyone in this team to make it work.

It was great working with professional people like Lionel, the photographer, Kenneth the makeup artist, Angus the hair stylist who actually came to adjust my hair every 5-10 minutes, as well as Verna, a stylist whom i have worked with before for Stuff magazine cover, and of course, the Body Contours team. Again, Thank you! Although the shoot was quite tiring and the room temperatures were freezing most of the time, it was another good experience and challenge to have in my lifetime.

I know what to do next after this. Go to a spa, of course! That's one of the many great ways to help women like myself relief stress and relax our bodies and minds. Soon...

p.s.- There are too many photos to upload so I just picked out some of them for this post. I'm actually not in a good condition right now so please give me awhile to recover and wait patiently for the upcoming PART 2. Time for me to rest after taking my medicine. Tata...  - nira

  • On the school bench: my piece of memories

Sometimes, I really feel like going back to school where I had fun experimenting different things either on mannequins, fabrics or others with all the laughter with crazy, creative, intelligent and stylish classmates. There were times when I used to sneak in some food into the classroom hoping that I won't get caught during class (but guess what, the lecturers were nice, I shared a bit of food with them).  "Nira, do you have any sweets?" that was a very common thing to hear from my classmates everyday. I also miss the excitement of waiting for my results as well as the reviews the lecturers would tell us after each assignment.

I remember looking like Santa, with all the sewing tools, stationary, and garments i had to carry with me in a huge bag and walk around school all day. That's so common for students doing arts and design. When we had to complete our final year assignments, we looked as if we are moving house! Well, I really miss those times.

That's all for now. I'm feeling quite tired today. The weather was terribly hot and I seriously felt like I was going to faint. I need to sleep pretty early tonight and wake up at 6am tomorrow morning. It will be a long day of photo shoot tomorrow. Will keep you guys updated. Good day and good night. Tata... - nira

  •   Avoid swimming this month?

Time for refreshing my body and mind. Swimming, one of my favorite sports which helps me to burn extra calories easily. It cools me off especially in summer time. I actually hope to gain more muscle strength from this.

However, I recently posted about swimming on Facebook and Twitter. I got a few comments that I shouldn't swim during the 7th lunar month (The hungry ghost festival) which started on 10th August 2010 and will last until 7th September 2010. According to Chinese beliefs, we shouldn't swim during this period of time because the previously drowned ghosts might cause you to drown in the swimming pool for their rebirth. To be honest, I'm pretty neutral in this so let me know what you think?

  • I woke up quite early this morning, freshened up, then went on to the basic skincare routine as usual. After looking though my makeup bag, trying to find my lip balm, I then realized that I need to do some shopping for makeup. I need new lip balm, mascara, and maybe new shade of eyeshadow. Thinking of getting a blue ones.

Come to think of it, I've yet to try many different looks judging by all the makeup products I have. Soon...
However, I often have comments from friends, makeup artists whom I've worked with, as well as my readers, that I suit the natural look most.
    -open my pouch-
And most of my makeup products are for natural look too.

In between jobs, I also prefer to let my skin breathe and the only makeup I wear is eyebrow pencil and lip gloss with Vitamin E.
    .

    Today's topic.
    Following Natural beauty.

Why do we wear makeup. Everyone knows the answers but they wear it for different purposes.

    1. To get rid or to hide the imperfections such as dark spots, wrinkles, pimples and etc...
    2. To enhance the best features of our face or to achieve the different looks we want which may vary depending on your mood.
    3. Makeup products these days also contain SPF which helps to protect our skin from UV rays.
    4. Looking good is definitely one of the ways to boost your confidence.

Some people may have different reasons. However, I think it's very important to keep our makeup as natural as possible, unless it's a special occasion. Also, we should wear them according to our age. Too much makeup on your face, especially concealer and foundation, could slowly damage your skin. So choose the right products and always apply moisturizer regularly. The important parts of my make up application is easy to remember; go very light on foundation powder, with SPF 15,  as well as light powder blush. Any makeup products with a warm tone will always be my all-time favorites.

As I said earlier, make-up does help in making us look better. But do not forget that every woman is beautiful for who they are.
Inner qualities is to first step to the real beauty.

    That's all for now. Tata.

  • The result of carelessness.

10 August, Tuesday, I went to 313 for shopping with a friend of mine after my meeting. We both had our early dinner at food republic and that was where I forgot my handphone and left it on the table after the meal. Around 15 minutes later, I realized my phone wasn't with me. Yes, it was my fault for being very careless at that point of time. I went back to look for my lost phone. First person I asked was a chinese lady staff roughly about early 30 who was cleaning the table nearby that area where I ate earlier on. I asked her if she had seen my phone and she shook her head and said "mei you". I could be wrong at first but she was very suspicious to me from the way she answered and she was the only one who was cleaning the tables nearby. So my friend got some help from the management team to look into the CCTV tapes and we found out that she was the last person who cleared that table but we couldn't see if she took it.

The management, my friend and I, went to talk to her and she refused to say that she stole it no matter how nicely we asked her. Well, I understood her position so we skipped the talking. After going through all the trouble, the management did a really great job and managed to find my phone wrapped in tissue paper under some dirty garbage bags. So she cried, playing the victim. I don't know what will happen to her. I'll leave that to the management to decide since I've got my phone back. It was very lucky for me. My phone contains many confidential and important documents which will definitely give me a lot of trouble if I don't get it back.

I remember finding one blackberry bold in a cab on the way to club street, and I sold it. No, I'm kidding. The phone rang and I answered the owner of this phone call "Mr James". he came to where I was at that time and he got his phone back. He was very grateful to me for returning him his phone and thanked me constantly, even through texts after he left. I believe in consequences, if it's not yours then it's not yours. Temptation can lead people to do unimaginable things.

However, I would like to thank the management team at food republic at somerset 313 for going through all that trouble with me and helping me retrieve my stolen phone.

I should be very careful next time as this was not the first time it happened to me. This would be another good lesson for myself.

    p.s.- Update soon. tata. -hugs-

  • Singapore National Day 2010, Fireworks.

I apologize in advance for the slightly blur images which were taken by my blackberry. It was a big mistake to leave my camera at home due to the rush hour.

From my view, the fireworks were so close and I felt I could almost touch it.

    Enjoy these videos below...

    Beautiful. It was really beautiful.
    p.s.- Happy belated birthday Singapore.

  • Things a woman, like me, are thankful for.

Healthy skin which is an essential part of natural beauty. Nutrients play an important role in maintaining healthy skin; carbohydrates, protein, fats, fatty acids, minerals and the essential vitamins. Fruits and vegetables are my favorite, I have them in every single meal. Many of my friends used to think that I'm a vegetarian. There used to be a time that I had some difficulty keeping my diet right so I started taking dietary supplements such as vitamins, primrose oil, omega 3, calcium, and etc... and it has become a habit from then till now. I'm also trying to have mineral water, or fruit juices with my meals instead of any soft drinks which may cause the erosion of bones and teeth. It's also good to have a glass of water before you sleep to keep your body and skin hydrated.

I'm also very thankful to skincare products and routine, but especially for toner and facial mask. I usually mask or scrub my face every once a week at night before I apply other facial products. Hot or warm water helps me a lot to open my skin pores before I have my face masked or scrubbed. Cotton wool is a need when applying toner. Now you see, a woman's skin plays a big part in keeping us looking good.

As well as having smooth and silky hair.

Hair dryer. In a bad hair day, my hair would be in a big mess without it. I usually don't use any hair straightener unless it's a very special occasion. I would need it for morning before I go out or and night time after I wash my hair. Sleeping with wet hair could make you fall sick and it tangles your hair badly. Maintaining your hair in a right way with the right tools and haircare products is very important. I spent quite a lot of money on my hair whether it's a service or hair products especially hair serum and hair treatment with sweet scents.

And most importantly, a mirror. We wouldn't be able to do most of these without it. Heels are said to be a woman's best friend, it should be a mirror.

That's all for now. I'll definitely share more next time. Wait till the next ones. -winks-

  • Dream World Bangkok. We found fun and smiles.

    It was a sunny day.

This baby sculpture looks kinda cute and funny though... so I took a photo of it.
    And this too...

It made me laugh just by looking at it. Creative.

I love this photo. It tells a story. If you know what I mean...

    Very touching.
Uh hmm.. So we went inside this Giant House...

    and everything is enormous.

My favorite. I used to learn Violin when I was very young. Not easy.

I saw this boy while waiting for Emily.

my love in first sight. Now then I believe. -smiles-  Isn't he a handsome little boy? I think he really is.

This was my favorite part of the day. Games and the prizes.

    I won a small prize.

    and a happy pink bear.

I got this by winning a game of pool.

Emily was really happy because we gave it all to her.

It's definitely the most fun place for Emily. She seemed very happy and energetic.
We had a hard time making her leave that place and I was really dead tired on that day.

p.s.- The elders were right all along; taking care of a small kid is not an easy thing.

  • 26.07.10 To the beach. Hua Hin.

We spent a day away from the town areas to get some fresh air and quiet serenity. My dad drove quite a distance for us to get there. Roughly two hours I would say. I couldn't get a good sleep the night before so I felt really restless in the next morning. A glass of hot milk with a teaspoon of expresso, did make me feel slightly better. I was sleeping comfortably in a car during our short journey and I woke up about 10-15 minutes just before we reach there. And here we go...

    Emily is back.

    And adorable as usual.

When I saw her finding and picking up sea shells, it somehow reminds me of my childhood memories. My family and I used to go to the beach every weekend when I was so much younger then.
    Treasured memories I have.

My brother helped her out a little.
    Let's see what she found.

    9 sea shells. -clap clap-

Dad and I. Oh, I kinda begged him to wear jeans on that day and he actually did. (That was the second time I saw him in jeans)
Told you. My dad is the sweetest. Love you dad.

This is the greatest spot for real good seafood.

I'm sorry if I make you feel craving for seafood right now. -winks-

    looking yummy.

    and definitely tasty.

    And...

Horse riding. It was my first time trying that and I really enjoyed it. My brother did too.

29, my lucky number of today.

    love. love. love it.

I'm not too sure if he likes this photo of himself (taken by me) at all. hehe. But I find him looking cute though...
My brother who helped me out quite a lot with photography on that day. Thank you.

She is 10kgs. Quite heavy for me. You can tell from my face expression in this photo.

Unfortunately, we couldn't spend one night there but I'm feeling so much better now. More relaxing. It was good. tata
p.s.- All above the images are non-photo-shop except for resizing.

    Inception. "between dream and reality"

Lived up to its name. The best movie I've seen this year so far.
I simply like everything about this movie, opening scenes, storyline, twisty mind-game, computer effects, and all the good actors/actresses.

    Especially,

Joseph Gordon Levitt, who has became one of my favourite actor after I watched "500 days of summer".
p.s.- You have to pay attention and the more you do, the better it gets.
